Boris Nzebo was born in Port-Gentil, Gabon. He currently lives and works in Douala,
Self-taught, he began by painting hairdressing salons, before devoting himself
exclusively to art, through an original approach: the exploration of hairdressing in the
urban space: styles, impacts, senses and reactions. He sees in them the signs of
social rank, the expression of a thought, of a cultural affiliation.
“I want to reproduce the questioning that is mine in front of a society in search of
landmarks and in full mutations. I rouse questioning. ( dont understand this
how can we understand that our environment is not as well cared for as
our heads? When our hair is sick we take care of it, but we do nothing to fight
corruption, misappropriation of public funds, massacres of civilians…”
His work is regularly exhibited in Cameroon, England, France, Switzerland, Haiti,
USA, and Brazil and during major international event among which, contemporary art
fairs 1:54 London and New-York and Art Paris Art Fair, AKAA and ART X Lagos,
presented by Galerie MAM and FondationDonwahi.
